Cat's Eye (Lehsunia) — Polished Cabochon

True cat's eye is chrysoberyl, rated 8.5 on the Mohs scale, cut as a smooth dome so that fine parallel inclusions create a moving line of light called chatoyancy. Honey-yellow stones with a sharp, central "milk and honey" eye are the most prized. Sri Lanka is a classic source.

Tradition and meaning

Lehsunia is the ratna of Ketu, associated in Jyotish with detachment, intuition and spirituality. It is traditionally set in silver or gold and worn on the little or middle finger, as an astrologer advises.

How to choose

The eye should be sharp, straight and centred and should move smoothly as the stone turns. Many other gems show a cat's-eye effect, including quartz and glass fibre, so ask for a laboratory report confirming chrysoberyl.

Care

Chrysoberyl is tough. Clean it with lukewarm soapy water and a soft brush, and store it separately to keep the polish bright.

What we confirm before you order

Natural materials vary from piece to piece, so the exact item, its specifications, any treatment, certification details, price and delivery time are confirmed with you before the order is accepted.

Questions customers ask

Is every cat's eye stone chrysoberyl?

No. Quartz, tourmaline and glass can show a similar effect. Only chrysoberyl is traditionally regarded as Lehsunia, so identification matters.

Responsible guidance

Spiritual and astrological associations belong to tradition and personal belief. They are not medical treatment and do not promise any financial, health or relationship outcome. For gemstone identification, rely on a report from a recognised laboratory.
