Why devotees choose Griha Pravesham
Griha Pravesham is the first formal entry into a new home. Families honour Vastu Purusha, the spirit of the dwelling, and the nine planets, so the house becomes a peaceful, welcoming space. It is also the moment a building becomes a home, shared with relatives and friends.
When it is performed
The date is chosen from an auspicious muhurtham, often in Uttarayana and avoiding months that many families consider unsuitable, such as Ashadha. Ceremonies usually begin early in the morning so the family can enter the house at sunrise.
What the ceremony involves
The day typically includes Ganapati pooja, punyahavachanam, Vastu Shanti, Navagraha homam and Lakshmi pooja. In many families a cow and calf enter first, the family crosses the threshold with a kalasha, and milk is boiled until it overflows as a sign of abundance. Aarti and prasad for guests follow.
Formats and languages
Griha Pravesham can be arranged at your home, or online with live participation where the ritual allows it. Priests who follow the Kannada, Tamil and Telugu traditions can be requested, and the chanting language and regional procedure are confirmed before the date is fixed.
How booking works
Tell us the occasion, location and dates that suit your family. We match a priest who follows your tradition, confirm timings and materials, and send a written plan with the final price. You decide only when everything is clear.
Questions families ask
Can this pooja be done online?
For many poojas, homams and paths, yes: the priest performs the ritual with your sankalpa (names, gotra and intention) while you join by video. Ceremonies that need the family present, such as a housewarming, wedding or samskara, are held in person, and relatives who live elsewhere can join by video.
Is samagri included?
The written plan lists every item the priest brings and anything your family needs to arrange, so there are no surprises on the day.
A note on faith and expectations
Every ceremony is offered as an act of devotion. Results in health, wealth, relationships or legal matters cannot be promised, and professional advice should always be sought where it is needed.
