Why devotees choose Rudrabhishekam
Abhishekam is the loving bathing of the deity, and Lord Shiva, who holds the Ganga in his hair, is especially fond of it. In Rudrabhishekam the linga is bathed while Sri Rudram is chanted. Devotees perform it for peace, purification and Shiva's grace, and many families make it a Monday or Pradosham tradition.
When it is performed
Mondays, Pradosham, Shravana month, Maha Shivaratri, Kartika month and family birthdays and anniversaries are popular.
What the ceremony involves
After Ganapathi pooja and a sankalpa, the Shiva linga is bathed in sequence with water, milk, curd, ghee, honey, sugarcane juice, coconut water and panchamrita while Sri Rudram (Namakam and Chamakam) is chanted. Bilva leaves, vibhuti and flowers are offered, and the pooja concludes with aarti.
Formats and languages
Rudrabhishekam can be arranged at your home, or online with live participation where the ritual allows it. Priests who follow the Kannada, Tamil and Telugu traditions can be requested, and the chanting language and regional procedure are confirmed before the date is fixed.
How booking works
Send an enquiry with your city, preferred dates and language. A coordinator confirms a suitable priest, the muhurta, the samagri list, what is included and the final price. You approve the plan before any payment is requested.
Questions families ask
Can this pooja be done online?
For many poojas, homams and paths, yes: the priest performs the ritual with your sankalpa (names, gotra and intention) while you join by video. Ceremonies that need the family present, such as a housewarming, wedding or samskara, are held in person, and relatives who live elsewhere can join by video.
Is samagri included?
The written plan lists every item the priest brings and anything your family needs to arrange, so there are no surprises on the day.
A note on faith and expectations
Pooja and homam are practised for devotion, gratitude and inner steadiness. They do not replace qualified professional advice, and no outcome is promised.
