Why devotees choose Kadali Vivaha

When a horoscope shows Kuja dosha or other afflictions to the house of marriage, Kannada tradition sometimes recommends Kadali Vivaha. The banana plant, worshipped as a form of Vishnu, is symbolically married first, so that the dosha is absorbed and the real marriage proceeds in harmony.

When it is performed

It is performed before the wedding, on an auspicious day chosen by the priest. Srirangapatna and other sacred places are popular venues.

What the ceremony involves

The banana plant is worshipped, a short symbolic wedding is conducted with sankalpa, mangalya and prayers, and a homa follows. The plant is later honoured as tradition prescribes, and the family offers dana. Procedures vary by family.

Can this pooja be done online?

For many poojas, homams and paths, yes: the priest performs the ritual with your sankalpa (names, gotra and intention) while you join by video. Ceremonies that need the family present, such as a housewarming, wedding or samskara, are held in person, and relatives who live elsewhere can join by video.

Is samagri included?

The written plan lists every item the priest brings and anything your family needs to arrange, so there are no surprises on the day.
