Why devotees choose Dhanishta Panchakam Shanti
Tradition holds that a death during Dhanishta Panchakam, the period when the moon passes through the second half of Dhanishta and the next four nakshatras (Shatabhisha, Purva Bhadrapada, Uttara Bhadrapada and Revati), calls for a special shanti. The ritual is performed for the peace of the departed and the wellbeing of the family.
When it is performed
It is usually performed during the period of the final rites, often around the tenth to thirteenth day, as the priest advises after checking the time of passing.
What the ceremony involves
The priest confirms the nakshatra at the time of passing and performs the prescribed shanti homam, with kalasha worship and offerings for the family's peace. The family is guided gently through each step during a difficult time.
Formats and languages
Dhanishta Panchakam Shanti can be arranged at your home, or online with live participation where the ritual allows it. Priests who follow the Tamil tradition can be requested, and the chanting language and regional procedure are confirmed before the date is fixed.
How booking works
Send an enquiry with your city, preferred dates and language. A coordinator confirms a suitable priest, the muhurta, the samagri list, what is included and the final price. You approve the plan before any payment is requested.
Questions families ask
Can this pooja be done online?
For many poojas, homams and paths, yes: the priest performs the ritual with your sankalpa (names, gotra and intention) while you join by video. Ceremonies that need the family present, such as a housewarming, wedding or samskara, are held in person, and relatives who live elsewhere can join by video.
Is samagri included?
The written plan lists every item the priest brings and anything your family needs to arrange, so there are no surprises on the day.
A note on faith and expectations
Pooja and homam are practised for devotion, gratitude and inner steadiness. They do not replace qualified professional advice, and no outcome is promised.
