Why devotees choose Vishti Karan/Bhadra Shanti

Karan is half of a lunar day, and Vishti, also called Bhadra, is considered inauspicious for beginnings in the panchang. Marathi tradition recommends a shanti for a child born during Vishti karan, praying for the child's wellbeing and the family's harmony.

When it is performed

It is usually performed within a few weeks of birth, on a day the purohit recommends.

What the ceremony involves

The purohit performs Ganpati puja and Punyahvachan, worships the deity associated with Vishti karan, and conducts a shanti havan with the prescribed mantras. The parents and baby receive sanctified water, and dana is offered.

Formats and languages

Vishti Karan/Bhadra Shanti can be arranged at your home, or online with live participation where the ritual allows it. Priests who follow the Marathi tradition can be requested, and the chanting language and regional procedure are confirmed before the date is fixed.

How booking works

Planning starts with a short enquiry. Our team checks priest availability for your tradition and language, proposes a muhurta, shares a clear list of inclusions and samagri, and confirms the total. Nothing is booked or charged until you agree.

Questions families ask

Can this pooja be done online?

For many poojas, homams and paths, yes: the priest performs the ritual with your sankalpa (names, gotra and intention) while you join by video. Ceremonies that need the family present, such as a housewarming, wedding or samskara, are held in person, and relatives who live elsewhere can join by video.

Is samagri included?

The written plan lists every item the priest brings and anything your family needs to arrange, so there are no surprises on the day.

A note on faith and expectations

Pooja and homam are practised for devotion, gratitude and inner steadiness. They do not replace qualified professional advice, and no outcome is promised.
