Why devotees choose Srimad Bhagavatam Parayanam
The Srimad Bhagavatam is among the most beloved scriptures of the Vaishnava tradition. It narrates the avatars of Vishnu and the life of Lord Krishna. Listening to its recitation is considered deeply purifying, and families arrange a parayanam for devotion, for the peace of departed ancestors and in gratitude for blessings.
When it is performed
A saptaham (seven days) is popular in Shravana, Margazhi and Kartika months, and during Pitru Paksha or after a loved one's passing.
What the ceremony involves
After an opening pooja and sankalpa, a learned scholar recites and explains the twelve cantos over the agreed number of days, often with bhajans in the evenings. The parayanam concludes with a special pooja, homam and prasad distribution.
Formats and languages
Srimad Bhagavatam Parayanam can be arranged at your home, or online with live participation where the ritual allows it. Priests who follow the Tamil tradition can be requested, and the chanting language and regional procedure are confirmed before the date is fixed.
How booking works
Send an enquiry with your city, preferred dates and language. A coordinator confirms a suitable priest, the muhurta, the samagri list, what is included and the final price. You approve the plan before any payment is requested.
Questions families ask
Can this pooja be done online?
For many poojas, homams and paths, yes: the priest performs the ritual with your sankalpa (names, gotra and intention) while you join by video. Ceremonies that need the family present, such as a housewarming, wedding or samskara, are held in person, and relatives who live elsewhere can join by video.
Is samagri included?
The written plan lists every item the priest brings and anything your family needs to arrange, so there are no surprises on the day.
A note on faith and expectations
Pooja and homam are practised for devotion, gratitude and inner steadiness. They do not replace qualified professional advice, and no outcome is promised.
