Why devotees choose Seemantham
Seemantham, related to the Seemantonnayana samskara, celebrates the expectant mother and prays for a safe pregnancy and a happy, healthy baby. In Tamil families it is often combined with Valaikappu, where women of the family slip glass bangles onto her wrists for joy and protection.
When it is performed
It is usually held in the fifth, seventh or eighth month of pregnancy, according to family custom, on an auspicious day chosen by the priest.
What the ceremony involves
The priest performs Ganapati pooja, punyahavachanam and the Seemantham rituals, including parting the mother's hair with prayers. Married women apply turmeric and kumkum, place bangles on her wrists and sing traditional songs. The mother receives gifts and blessings, and the day ends with a meal.
Formats and languages
Seemantham can be arranged at your home, or online with live participation where the ritual allows it. Priests who follow the Kannada, Tamil and Telugu traditions can be requested, and the chanting language and regional procedure are confirmed before the date is fixed.
How booking works
Send an enquiry with your city, preferred dates and language. A coordinator confirms a suitable priest, the muhurta, the samagri list, what is included and the final price. You approve the plan before any payment is requested.
Questions families ask
Can this pooja be done online?
For many poojas, homams and paths, yes: the priest performs the ritual with your sankalpa (names, gotra and intention) while you join by video. Ceremonies that need the family present, such as a housewarming, wedding or samskara, are held in person, and relatives who live elsewhere can join by video.
Is samagri included?
The written plan lists every item the priest brings and anything your family needs to arrange, so there are no surprises on the day.
A note on faith and expectations
Rituals are an expression of faith and family tradition. They are not a substitute for medical, legal or financial advice, and no spiritual service can promise a particular result.
