When it is performed

Full-moon days (Pournami), Ekadashi, Thursdays and Sankranti are especially auspicious, and it is often performed after a griha pravesham or wedding.

What the ceremony involves

The priest performs Ganapathi pooja, Navagraha pooja and Varuna kalasha pooja, then the main Sathyanarayana pooja. The five chapters of the katha are read, describing the lord's grace, and prasad of rava kesari or sheera made with banana, milk and ghee is offered and shared. Aarti concludes the pooja.

Ceremonies that need the family present, such as a housewarming, wedding or samskara, are held in person, and relatives who live elsewhere can join by video.

The written plan lists every item the priest brings and anything your family needs to arrange, so there are no surprises on the day.
