Tradition recognises that a full srardham is not always possible because of travel, health or circumstance. In Sankalpa Srardham the karta performs the rite through a formal resolution (sankalpa), tarpanam and dana, so the duty to the ancestors is still fulfilled with sincerity.

When it is performed

It is performed on the death anniversary or during Mahalaya Paksha, when circumstances do not allow a full srardham.

What the ceremony involves

The priest guides the karta through the sankalpa naming the ancestors, tarpanam with black sesame and water, and the offering of dakshina or provisions. Prayers for the peace of the ancestors conclude the rite. It can often be guided remotely.

Sankalpa Srardham can be arranged at your home, or online with live participation where the ritual allows it. Priests who follow the Tamil tradition can be requested, and the chanting language and regional procedure are confirmed before the date is fixed.

Can this pooja be done online?

For many poojas, homams and paths, yes: the priest performs the ritual with your sankalpa (names, gotra and intention) while you join by video. Ceremonies that need the family present, such as a housewarming, wedding or samskara, are held in person, and relatives who live elsewhere can join by video.

Is samagri included?

The written plan lists every item the priest brings and anything your family needs to arrange, so there are no surprises on the day.
