Roka Ceremony

The Roka is the first formal step towards marriage. A short Ganesh puja with tilak, shagun and blessings marks the families' joyful commitment.

Why devotees choose Roka Ceremony

In Punjabi and North Indian families, the Roka marks the moment both families formally agree to the marriage, "stopping" the search for other alliances. A puja at the start asks for Lord Ganesh's blessings on the couple and the wedding preparations to come.

When it is performed

It is usually held soon after the families agree to the match, on an auspicious day chosen by the pandit.

What the ceremony involves

The pandit performs Ganesh puja and a sankalp. The families exchange shagun of sweets, dry fruits, clothes and gifts, tilak is applied to the groom, the bride receives a chunni, and elders bless the couple before the celebration continues.

Formats and languages

Roka Ceremony can be arranged at your home, or online with live participation where the ritual allows it. Priests who follow the Hindi tradition can be requested, and the chanting language and regional procedure are confirmed before the date is fixed.

How booking works

Planning starts with a short enquiry. Our team checks priest availability for your tradition and language, proposes a muhurta, shares a clear list of inclusions and samagri, and confirms the total. Nothing is booked or charged until you agree.

Questions families ask

Can this pooja be done online?

For many poojas, homams and paths, yes: the priest performs the ritual with your sankalpa (names, gotra and intention) while you join by video. Ceremonies that need the family present, such as a housewarming, wedding or samskara, are held in person, and relatives who live elsewhere can join by video.

Is samagri included?

The written plan lists every item the priest brings and anything your family needs to arrange, so there are no surprises on the day.

A note on faith and expectations

Every ceremony is offered as an act of devotion. Results in health, wealth, relationships or legal matters cannot be promised, and professional advice should always be sought where it is needed.
