Why devotees choose Punyahavachanam
Punyahavachanam means "declaring the day auspicious." Water in a kalasha is sanctified with Varuna mantras and sprinkled to purify the home and family. It is performed after childbirth (often on the eleventh day), before griha pravesham and weddings, and at the start of most major samskaras.
When it is performed
It is performed as the first part of many ceremonies, after childbirth or a period of ritual impurity, and when moving into a new home.
What the ceremony involves
After Ganapathi pooja and a sankalpa, the priest installs a kalasha, invokes Varuna and chants the punyahavachanam mantras with the participation of the family. The sanctified water is sprinkled throughout the house and over the family, and a few drops are taken as tirtha.
Formats and languages
Punyahavachanam can be arranged at your home, or online with live participation where the ritual allows it. Priests who follow the Kannada, Tamil and Telugu traditions can be requested, and the chanting language and regional procedure are confirmed before the date is fixed.
How booking works
Send an enquiry with your city, preferred dates and language. A coordinator confirms a suitable priest, the muhurta, the samagri list, what is included and the final price. You approve the plan before any payment is requested.
Questions families ask
Can this pooja be done online?
For many poojas, homams and paths, yes: the priest performs the ritual with your sankalpa (names, gotra and intention) while you join by video. Ceremonies that need the family present, such as a housewarming, wedding or samskara, are held in person, and relatives who live elsewhere can join by video.
Is samagri included?
The written plan lists every item the priest brings and anything your family needs to arrange, so there are no surprises on the day.
A note on faith and expectations
Pooja and homam are practised for devotion, gratitude and inner steadiness. They do not replace qualified professional advice, and no outcome is promised.
