Why devotees choose Pumsavanam
Pumsavanam is one of the earliest samskaras described in the Grihya Sutras, performed during pregnancy with prayers for the healthy growth of the child and the comfort of the mother. Today it is cherished as a moment of family support, often combined with Seemantham.
When it is performed
It is traditionally performed in the third month of pregnancy or as the family tradition specifies, on a day chosen from the panchangam. Many families combine it with Seemantham in a later month.
What the ceremony involves
The priest performs Ganapati pooja, punyahavachanam and a sankalpa for mother and child, followed by Vedic mantras from the Grihya Sutras. Elders bless the couple, and the ceremony ends with aarti and a meal. Rituals are kept comfortable for the mother throughout.
Formats and languages
Pumsavanam can be arranged at your home, or online with live participation where the ritual allows it. Priests who follow the Tamil tradition can be requested, and the chanting language and regional procedure are confirmed before the date is fixed.
How booking works
Tell us the occasion, location and dates that suit your family. We match a priest who follows your tradition, confirm timings and materials, and send a written plan with the final price. You decide only when everything is clear.
Questions families ask
Can this pooja be done online?
For many poojas, homams and paths, yes: the priest performs the ritual with your sankalpa (names, gotra and intention) while you join by video. Ceremonies that need the family present, such as a housewarming, wedding or samskara, are held in person, and relatives who live elsewhere can join by video.
Is samagri included?
The written plan lists every item the priest brings and anything your family needs to arrange, so there are no surprises on the day.
A note on faith and expectations
