Why devotees choose Nichayathartham
Nichayathartham is the formal engagement in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada families. The two families publicly agree to the marriage, honour each other with gifts and announce the wedding muhurtham. It is often the first time both families celebrate together.
When it is performed
It is usually held a few weeks or months before the wedding, on an auspicious day fixed from the couple's horoscopes and the families' convenience.
What the ceremony involves
After Ganapati pooja, the priest reads the lagna patrika (the formal wedding announcement). Families exchange plates of thamboolam with betel leaves, fruit, flowers, turmeric and kumkum, and the bride and groom may receive new clothes and rings. Aarti and blessings from elders follow.
Formats and languages
Nichayathartham (Engagement) can be arranged at your home, or online with live participation where the ritual allows it. Priests who follow the Kannada, Tamil and Telugu traditions can be requested, and the chanting language and regional procedure are confirmed before the date is fixed.
How booking works
Planning starts with a short enquiry. Our team checks priest availability for your tradition and language, proposes a muhurta, shares a clear list of inclusions and samagri, and confirms the total. Nothing is booked or charged until you agree.
Questions families ask
Can this pooja be done online?
For many poojas, homams and paths, yes: the priest performs the ritual with your sankalpa (names, gotra and intention) while you join by video. Ceremonies that need the family present, such as a housewarming, wedding or samskara, are held in person, and relatives who live elsewhere can join by video.
Is samagri included?
The written plan lists every item the priest brings and anything your family needs to arrange, so there are no surprises on the day.
A note on faith and expectations
Pooja and homam are practised for devotion, gratitude and inner steadiness. They do not replace qualified professional advice, and no outcome is promised.
