Why devotees choose Mahalaya Srardham
Mahalaya Paksha, the dark fortnight before Navaratri, is dedicated to the pitrus (ancestors). Tradition holds that ancestors visit their descendants during this period, and offerings made now benefit all generations of the family, including relatives whose death dates are unknown. This listing follows the traditional Brahmin procedure.
When it is performed
It is performed on the tithi corresponding to the ancestor's death date within Mahalaya Paksha, or on Mahalaya Amavasya, the final and most important day.
What the ceremony involves
The priest guides the karta through sankalpa, homam, pinda pradanam and tarpanam with sesame and water, and Brahmins representing the ancestors are honoured with a meal and dakshina. The family prays for the peace and blessings of all ancestors.
Formats and languages
Mahalaya Srardham (For Brahmins Only) can be arranged at your home, or online with live participation where the ritual allows it. Priests who follow the Tamil tradition can be requested, and the chanting language and regional procedure are confirmed before the date is fixed.
How booking works
Planning starts with a short enquiry. Our team checks priest availability for your tradition and language, proposes a muhurta, shares a clear list of inclusions and samagri, and confirms the total. Nothing is booked or charged until you agree.
Questions families ask
Can this pooja be done online?
For many poojas, homams and paths, yes: the priest performs the ritual with your sankalpa (names, gotra and intention) while you join by video. Ceremonies that need the family present, such as a housewarming, wedding or samskara, are held in person, and relatives who live elsewhere can join by video.
Is samagri included?
The written plan lists every item the priest brings and anything your family needs to arrange, so there are no surprises on the day.
A note on faith and expectations
Every ceremony is offered as an act of devotion. Results in health, wealth, relationships or legal matters cannot be promised, and professional advice should always be sought where it is needed.
