Why devotees choose Krishna Jayanthi Pooja
Krishna Jayanthi, also called Gokulashtami, celebrates the birth of Lord Krishna. Tamil families draw tiny footprints from the doorway to the pooja room, as though baby Krishna has walked in, and offer his favourite butter and sweets. The pooja fills the home with devotion and joy, especially for children.
When it is performed
It falls on the Ashtami tithi of the Krishna Paksha in the month of Shravana or Avani, usually in August or September. Some families observe it according to the Rohini nakshatra.
What the ceremony involves
The pooja usually includes Ganapathi pooja, the decoration of Krishna's idol or picture, the chanting of Krishna Ashtottaram and stotras, and offerings of butter, milk, seedai, murukku, appam and fruits. Bhajans and aarti close the celebration, often near midnight.
Formats and languages
Krishna Jayanthi Pooja can be arranged at your home, or online with live participation where the ritual allows it. Priests who follow the Tamil tradition can be requested, and the chanting language and regional procedure are confirmed before the date is fixed.
How booking works
Send an enquiry with your city, preferred dates and language. A coordinator confirms a suitable priest, the muhurta, the samagri list, what is included and the final price. You approve the plan before any payment is requested.
Questions families ask
Can this pooja be done online?
For many poojas, homams and paths, yes: the priest performs the ritual with your sankalpa (names, gotra and intention) while you join by video. Ceremonies that need the family present, such as a housewarming, wedding or samskara, are held in person, and relatives who live elsewhere can join by video.
Is samagri included?
The written plan lists every item the priest brings and anything your family needs to arrange, so there are no surprises on the day.
A note on faith and expectations
Pooja and homam are practised for devotion, gratitude and inner steadiness. They do not replace qualified professional advice, and no outcome is promised.
