When it is performed

It is commonly performed in infancy or early childhood, on a day chosen from the child's birth star and the panchanga.

What the ceremony involves

The priest performs Ganapathi pooja and a sankalpa, and the piercing is done by a trained person with clean, sterile equipment. The child receives small gold earrings and blessings from elders. Please discuss hygiene arrangements when you plan.

Formats and languages

Karna Vedhana can be arranged at your home, or online with live participation where the ritual allows it. Priests who follow the Kannada tradition can be requested, and the chanting language and regional procedure are confirmed before the date is fixed.

Can this pooja be done online?

For many poojas, homams and paths, yes: the priest performs the ritual with your sankalpa (names, gotra and intention) while you join by video. Ceremonies that need the family present, such as a housewarming, wedding or samskara, are held in person, and relatives who live elsewhere can join by video.

Is samagri included?

The written plan lists every item the priest brings and anything your family needs to arrange, so there are no surprises on the day.
