Why devotees choose Ganpati Atharvashirsha Abhishek
In Maharashtra, the Ganpati Atharvashirsha is recited daily in many homes, and a group recitation with abhishek, especially a sahasravartan of 1,000 recitations, is a cherished offering. Families arrange it during Ganeshotsav, on Sankashti and Angarki Chaturthi, and before major life events.
When it is performed
Angarki and Sankashti Chaturthi, Ganesh Chaturthi and the ten days of Ganeshotsav, Tuesdays and the start of new ventures are especially popular.
What the ceremony involves
After Ganpati puja and a sankalp, the purohits recite the Atharvashirsha an agreed number of times (21, 108 or 1,000) while the idol receives abhishek with water and milk. Durva, red flowers and modak are offered, and the puja ends with the aarti "Sukhakarta Dukhaharta."
Formats and languages
Ganpati Atharvashirsha Abhishek can be arranged at your home, or online with live participation where the ritual allows it. Priests who follow the Marathi tradition can be requested, and the chanting language and regional procedure are confirmed before the date is fixed.
How booking works
Send an enquiry with your city, preferred dates and language. A coordinator confirms a suitable priest, the muhurta, the samagri list, what is included and the final price. You approve the plan before any payment is requested.
Questions families ask
Can this pooja be done online?
For many poojas, homams and paths, yes: the priest performs the ritual with your sankalpa (names, gotra and intention) while you join by video. Ceremonies that need the family present, such as a housewarming, wedding or samskara, are held in person, and relatives who live elsewhere can join by video.
Is samagri included?
The written plan lists every item the priest brings and anything your family needs to arrange, so there are no surprises on the day.
A note on faith and expectations
Pooja and homam are practised for devotion, gratitude and inner steadiness. They do not replace qualified professional advice, and no outcome is promised.
