Why devotees choose Devata Kalyanotsavam
A Kalyanotsavam re-enacts the sacred wedding of the deities with all the rituals of a traditional marriage. Hosting one is considered highly meritorious. Families sponsor it to pray for harmony in marriage, for a suitable alliance for a son or daughter, or as an offering of gratitude.
When it is performed
Sri Rama Navami (Sita Rama Kalyanam), Maha Shivaratri (Shiva Parvati Kalyanam), Brahmotsavams and auspicious days in Uttarayana are popular choices.
What the ceremony involves
The utsava murtis are decorated as bride and groom. Priests perform Vishvaksena pooja, punyahavachanam, kanyadanam, mangalya dharanam and talambralu (the showering of turmeric rice), just as in a human wedding. Devotees offer cloth and gifts, and the ceremony ends with aarti and a festive meal.
Formats and languages
Devata Kalyanotsavam can be arranged at your home, or online with live participation where the ritual allows it. Priests who follow the Kannada and Telugu traditions can be requested, and the chanting language and regional procedure are confirmed before the date is fixed.
How booking works
Planning starts with a short enquiry. Our team checks priest availability for your tradition and language, proposes a muhurta, shares a clear list of inclusions and samagri, and confirms the total. Nothing is booked or charged until you agree.
Questions families ask
Can this pooja be done online?
For many poojas, homams and paths, yes: the priest performs the ritual with your sankalpa (names, gotra and intention) while you join by video. Ceremonies that need the family present, such as a housewarming, wedding or samskara, are held in person, and relatives who live elsewhere can join by video.
Is samagri included?
The written plan lists every item the priest brings and anything your family needs to arrange, so there are no surprises on the day.
A note on faith and expectations
Every ceremony is offered as an act of devotion. Results in health, wealth, relationships or legal matters cannot be promised, and professional advice should always be sought where it is needed.
