Why devotees choose Brihaspati Vrat Udyapan
Many devotees observe a vow of fasting on Thursdays (Guruvar), often for sixteen Thursdays or another chosen number, praying to Lord Vishnu and Brihaspati for wisdom, family happiness and good fortune. The udyapan formally completes the vow with gratitude, and scriptures recommend it so the vrat is fulfilled properly.
When it is performed
It is performed on the Thursday after the vowed number of fasts is complete, on an auspicious date chosen by the pandit.
What the ceremony involves
The pandit performs Ganesh puja, kalash sthapana and the puja of Lord Vishnu and Brihaspati with yellow flowers, chana dal, jaggery, bananas and turmeric. The Brihaspati vrat katha is read, a havan is performed, and Brahmins or the needy are offered yellow food, clothes and dakshina.
Formats and languages
Brihaspati Vrat Udyapan can be arranged at your home, or online with live participation where the ritual allows it. Priests who follow the Hindi tradition can be requested, and the chanting language and regional procedure are confirmed before the date is fixed.
How booking works
Planning starts with a short enquiry. Our team checks priest availability for your tradition and language, proposes a muhurta, shares a clear list of inclusions and samagri, and confirms the total. Nothing is booked or charged until you agree.
Questions families ask
Can this pooja be done online?
For many poojas, homams and paths, yes: the priest performs the ritual with your sankalpa (names, gotra and intention) while you join by video. Ceremonies that need the family present, such as a housewarming, wedding or samskara, are held in person, and relatives who live elsewhere can join by video.
Is samagri included?
The written plan lists every item the priest brings and anything your family needs to arrange, so there are no surprises on the day.
A note on faith and expectations
Every ceremony is offered as an act of devotion. Results in health, wealth, relationships or legal matters cannot be promised, and professional advice should always be sought where it is needed.
