Why devotees choose Mrityunjaya Homam
The Maha Mrityunjaya mantra from the Rigveda is one of the most revered prayers to Lord Shiva. In this homam it is chanted with offerings into the sacred fire for longevity, resilience and calm. Families often perform it for elders, on milestone birthdays, or while a loved one is unwell and receiving medical care.
When it is performed
Mondays, Pradosham, Maha Shivaratri, the birth star of the person prayed for and milestone birthdays are commonly chosen.
What the ceremony involves
After Ganapati pooja and a sankalpa, the priest invokes Lord Mrityunjaya in a kalasha and chants the Maha Mrityunjaya mantra a set number of times, offering ghee, sesame and durva grass into the fire. Purnahuti is followed by abhishekam with the kalasha water and the distribution of prasad.
Formats and languages
Mrityunjaya Homam can be arranged at your home, or online with live participation where the ritual allows it. Priests who follow the Hindi, Kannada, Marathi and Tamil traditions can be requested, and the chanting language and regional procedure are confirmed before the date is fixed.
How booking works
Tell us the occasion, location and dates that suit your family. We match a priest who follows your tradition, confirm timings and materials, and send a written plan with the final price. You decide only when everything is clear.
Questions families ask
Can this pooja be done online?
For many poojas, homams and paths, yes: the priest performs the ritual with your sankalpa (names, gotra and intention) while you join by video. Ceremonies that need the family present, such as a housewarming, wedding or samskara, are held in person, and relatives who live elsewhere can join by video.
Is samagri included?
The written plan lists every item the priest brings and anything your family needs to arrange, so there are no surprises on the day.
A note on faith and expectations
Every ceremony is offered as an act of devotion. Results in health, wealth, relationships or legal matters cannot be promised, and professional advice should always be sought where it is needed.
