Why devotees choose Hartalika Teej Puja
According to tradition, Mata Parvati observed intense tapas to win Lord Shiva as her husband, and her friends (aalika) carried her away (harit) to the forest so that she would not be married to anyone else, which gives the festival its name. Married women observe Hartalika Teej for the long life and wellbeing of their husbands, and unmarried girls for a good life partner.
When it is performed
It falls on Bhadrapada Shukla Tritiya, usually in August or September, the day before Ganesh Chaturthi, and the worship often continues through the night.
What the ceremony involves
Clay or sand idols of Shiv, Parvati and Ganesh are made and decorated. The pandit guides the sankalp, shodashopachar puja, solah shringar offerings to Mata Parvati and the Hartalika vrat katha, followed by aarti. Many women keep a nirjala fast and break it the next morning after puja.
Formats and languages
Hartalika Teej Puja can be arranged at your home, or online with live participation where the ritual allows it. Priests who follow the Hindi tradition can be requested, and the chanting language and regional procedure are confirmed before the date is fixed.
How booking works
Send an enquiry with your city, preferred dates and language. A coordinator confirms a suitable priest, the muhurta, the samagri list, what is included and the final price. You approve the plan before any payment is requested.
Questions families ask
Can this pooja be done online?
For many poojas, homams and paths, yes: the priest performs the ritual with your sankalpa (names, gotra and intention) while you join by video. Ceremonies that need the family present, such as a housewarming, wedding or samskara, are held in person, and relatives who live elsewhere can join by video.
Is samagri included?
The written plan lists every item the priest brings and anything your family needs to arrange, so there are no surprises on the day.
