Why devotees choose Guru Graha Japam
Guru, or Brihaspati, is the most benevolent graha in Jyotisha, associated with wisdom, teachers, children, marriage (especially for women) and good fortune. During Guru dasha, unfavourable transits or when Jupiter is weak in the chart, the japam is performed to invite its blessings.
When it is performed
It is usually started on a Thursday, during Guru hora, at the start of Guru dasha or around Guru Peyarchi (Jupiter's transit), as advised.
What the ceremony involves
Priests chant the Guru mantra a prescribed number of times, followed by a homam with ashvattha (peepal) samidh. Chana dal, turmeric, a yellow cloth and bananas are traditional dana items.
Formats and languages
Guru Graha Japam can be arranged at your home, or online with live participation where the ritual allows it. Priests who follow the Telugu tradition can be requested, and the chanting language and regional procedure are confirmed before the date is fixed.
How booking works
Send an enquiry with your city, preferred dates and language. A coordinator confirms a suitable priest, the muhurta, the samagri list, what is included and the final price. You approve the plan before any payment is requested.
Questions families ask
Can this pooja be done online?
For many poojas, homams and paths, yes: the priest performs the ritual with your sankalpa (names, gotra and intention) while you join by video. Ceremonies that need the family present, such as a housewarming, wedding or samskara, are held in person, and relatives who live elsewhere can join by video.
Is samagri included?
The written plan lists every item the priest brings and anything your family needs to arrange, so there are no surprises on the day.
A note on faith and expectations
Every ceremony is offered as an act of devotion. Results in health, wealth, relationships or legal matters cannot be promised, and professional advice should always be sought where it is needed.
