Why devotees choose Gana Homa
In Karnataka, Gana Homa is performed as the very first ritual of almost every important occasion, from gruhapravesha and weddings to business openings. Lord Ganapathi, the remover of obstacles, is honoured so that everything that follows proceeds smoothly, and many families also perform it every year at home.
When it is performed
It is traditionally performed at dawn (brahma muhurta to sunrise), on Sankashti or Vinayaka Chaturthi, or as the opening rite of a larger ceremony.
What the ceremony involves
The priest performs sankalpa, kalasha sthapana and Ganapathi avahana, then offers ashta dravya (modaka, avalakki, sugarcane, banana, coconut, sesame, jaggery and honey) into the fire while chanting the Ganapathi Atharvashirsha. Purnahuti and aarti complete the homa.
Formats and languages
Gana Homa can be arranged at your home, or online with live participation where the ritual allows it. Priests who follow the Kannada tradition can be requested, and the chanting language and regional procedure are confirmed before the date is fixed.
How booking works
Tell us the occasion, location and dates that suit your family. We match a priest who follows your tradition, confirm timings and materials, and send a written plan with the final price. You decide only when everything is clear.
Questions families ask
Can this pooja be done online?
For many poojas, homams and paths, yes: the priest performs the ritual with your sankalpa (names, gotra and intention) while you join by video. Ceremonies that need the family present, such as a housewarming, wedding or samskara, are held in person, and relatives who live elsewhere can join by video.
Is samagri included?
The written plan lists every item the priest brings and anything your family needs to arrange, so there are no surprises on the day.
A note on faith and expectations
Pooja and homam are practised for devotion, gratitude and inner steadiness. They do not replace qualified professional advice, and no outcome is promised.
