Why devotees choose Chandra Japa
Chandra rules the mind, emotions, mother and memory. When the Moon is weak, afflicted or passing through challenging positions, Kannada families arrange Chandra Japa for calm and emotional balance. Devotees often worship Lord Shiva, who wears the crescent moon, alongside.
When it is performed
It is usually started on a Monday, on Purnima or during Chandra dasha, as the astrologer advises.
What the ceremony involves
Priests chant the Chandra mantra a prescribed number of times, followed by a homa with palasha samidh. Rice, a white cloth and milk are traditional dana items.
Formats and languages
Chandra Japa can be arranged at your home, or online with live participation where the ritual allows it. Priests who follow the Kannada tradition can be requested, and the chanting language and regional procedure are confirmed before the date is fixed.
How booking works
Send an enquiry with your city, preferred dates and language. A coordinator confirms a suitable priest, the muhurta, the samagri list, what is included and the final price. You approve the plan before any payment is requested.
Questions families ask
Can this pooja be done online?
For many poojas, homams and paths, yes: the priest performs the ritual with your sankalpa (names, gotra and intention) while you join by video. Ceremonies that need the family present, such as a housewarming, wedding or samskara, are held in person, and relatives who live elsewhere can join by video.
Is samagri included?
The written plan lists every item the priest brings and anything your family needs to arrange, so there are no surprises on the day.
A note on faith and expectations
